BOO! It's me, a sin that's been forgiven, and I'm going to haunt you!
Sins from the past can be haunting. For some humanly reason, we feel the need to keep asking for His forgiveness over and over when we are reminded of a past sin. The Bible says that when we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I hate to break it to you, but that sin that's been haunting you is no longer there.
"God, do you remember that one time I did that thing, well, uh, can you forgive me of that? Again?"
Sometimes we're a sobbing mess when we go to God in prayer. God, I did this, this and this, forgive me again. Goodness, we get frantic! If God has already forgiven ,us He doesn't see the sins we tell Him we committed. It's been wiped from our record. We need to nail whatever it is, any and all sin, nail it to the foot of the cross and leave it there, take God's hand and continue on.
Honestly, sometimes the devil is like a record of lies playing over and over and over.
The devil knows our sins our forgiven, he knows God no longer sees it. He likes to remind us of our sins, though. It makes us frantic and keeps our attention on something besides God. Guilt and shame are little tools he likes to use. Don't listen to the devil when he shoves past sins at you. Punch him with the Word. I am covered by His blood. God no longer sees my sin. I AM FORGIVEN! When you say these truths enough times, you'll begin to have confidence in God's grace. Your sin can't haunt you unless you let it.
Healing is mine! Deliverance is mine! So is forgiveness!
If we can have confidence in being healed, we can have confidence in God's amazing grace. 1 John 1:7b says, "The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." When we go before the throne of God and ask for His forgiveness and grace, we are cleansed. Not accepting that grace is like telling God He isn't powerful enough to forgive you because your sins are too great. If you believe your sins are too great, then you must be a special case ... to be the only one God can't forgive... DON'T LISTEN TO THAT LIE! It's of the devil. God's forgiveness is for everyone. The power of His blood covers ALL sins. Even yours, believe it or not.
Take God at His Word. Believe It with your whole heart and soul. God's grace is sufficient, you can have confidence in that. You can have confidence in God's grace, because no matter how much you sin, you never exhaust God's grace.
