With the hustle and bustle of life, and often during times of trial, it is easy to forget everything we are thankful for. When we take the time to count our blessings, sometimes we find they actually outweigh all the bad in our lives.
Me: -stubs toe- This is the worst day ever!
Friend: Well, at least you have toes to stub.
If everything works for the good of God, that mean in everything bad that happens, something good will come of it. If you're in the middle of a tragedy, keep waiting, keep praying, and you will eventually see the glory of God shining through it.
Breathe in. Breathe out. If you did that without a machine, you have something to praise God for.
It's often the simple things we take for granite. Without them, our whole world would be turned upside down. Walking. Breathing. Speaking. Hearing. Tasting. Feeling. Everything that makes a healthy body! Some people don't have what we use on a daily basis. And many people, today on Thanksgiving, are lying in the hospital with an uncertain tomorrow. Who cares if the Thanksgiving ham or turkey didn't turn out right. Be thankful you have one, be thankful you get to eat one, be thankful you even have an appliance to cook it.
Me: -holding picnic basket and staring at the rain falling out the window- TODAY IS RUINED!!!
Friend: Well, I sure am glad we have a house to keep us dry. Some people don't even have that.
No matter how bad you have it right now, someone out there has it 100 times worse. Though perhaps this is a bit cliche, being that it's Thanksgiving, take the time to write a list of everything you have that you can be thankful for, perhaps it'll brighten your day.
Places in the Bible about being thankful:
Ephesians 5:20
I Samuel 12:24
I Thessalonians 5:18
Psalm 118:24
Colossians 3:15
Psalm 102:1
Psalm 103:2-5
